熱海駅方面から行くと熱海金城館の次の信号を右に上がり食事処「みのる亭」が見えたら右折して小さな道を少し下ります。
ほどなく右手に駐車場が見え山田湯の駐車スペースが2台分あります。
本当に普通の民家なので下調べをしていかないと見落としてしまいそうです。
駐車スペースのすぐ前に男湯と女湯の暖簾が見えるので引き戸を開けると横にある母屋の方から女将さんが夕食の手を止めて出てきてくれました。
入浴料金300円を支払い中に入ると常連の方とおぼしき婦人が3人ほど入浴していました。
足を踏み入れると小学校時代に近くの銭湯に洗面器片手に出かけたのを思い出しました。
そうそうこんなタイルの浴槽で番台があってお風呂あがりにはいつも珈琲牛乳かヨーグルトを買うか迷って迷って買ったっけ。
浴槽ひとつしかなくてそれも熱めで長居はできませんが（他に人がいなければ加水OKのようです）一度は行きたい温泉です。
