前のオーナーさんが大好きだというヒメシャラ が玄関の左右に各5本植えられていて、ちょうど今が見ごろで直径が2cmほどの白い5弁花が咲いている。
「ヒメ」という名はついているが高さは10m程はあるので下から覗き上げても可憐な花はあまり見えず新緑の葉っぱに隠れるそぶりで楚々と咲いている。
朝になると地面にいっぱい小さな花が椿のように落ちているのが見ごろのサインだ。
毎朝、竹ほうきで一面に広がった白い花を掃除するんだけど「たまには休ませてよ」と言いたくなる。
前のオーナーさんは目を輝かせて「ヒメシャラが好きで」と繰り返していて、私たちも見ごろである6月を待ちわび楽しみにしていたが見ごろを迎え「は？」と思った。
なんて地味なのー。
正直、そう思った・・・今朝の夫の一言を聞くまでは。
「ねぇ、毎朝こんなに落ちるの」
「そう、掃除大変やしー。隣の駐車場まで落ちるし」
「もしかして、この落ちた花の様子が好きだったんじゃない」
そっかー！！
確かにそうだよね。
朝咲いて夕方には散る、たった一日だけの小さな無常の花。
愛おしい気持ちが沸々と湧き上がってきた。
同時に一日を大切にしなければと思いながら平家物語を思い出す。
祇園精舎の鐘の声、諸行無常の響きあり。
沙羅双樹の花の色、盛者必衰の理をあらわす。
奢れる人も久しからず、ただ春の夜の夢の如し。
